Child Abuse…You may not see it, but it’s there!

Why do parents hit their children? Who’s fault is it, the parents or the child’s? Or is there a third party? When is it okay? Should the age of the child matter? What’s the law’s say in Child Abuse?
The answer to most of these questions is: Child Abuse is illegal. The law says so, and as a matter of fact, any abuse between families is illegal. The age of the child should never matter because if he/she is still young, they obviously don’t know anything yet; the parent should advice them, not abuse them. And if the child is old, and on the verge of reaching adulthood, they are smart enough to know what’s right from wrong and are responsible for their own actions. So, it’s never okay for parents to hit and punch their children.
The reasons why parents abuse their children is a list that could go on forever. It could be a way the parent deals with their anger issues. Hitting their children could be the bath to releasing any stress or problems they may have. Of course, that still doesn’t make it okay. The parents should find another way to get rid of their problems, by talking to someone, doing some kind of activity, anything other than abusing their children. Another reason might be because the parents themselves have been abused in their childhood, so to get back at their past, they take it out on their children. It’s still never okay. Talk to someone, tell them how you feel, and if talking is not your thing, do an activity, get a hobby, because abusing your children is certainly not one.
Last, but not least, parents might hit their children because of something the child did. It could be anything, lied, stole, got him/herself in some kind of trouble at school, didn’t bring home a good grade, so the parent might feel like whooping them is a good punishment. Haven’t you ever heard of the saying “Violence is not the answer”? Because it isn’t. Find another type of punishment, like grounding, suspending favorite items, long lectures—believe me, children hate them—anything other than abuse to let them know that their actions were wrong.
Parents, if you abuse your children, you won’t get away with it. Someone will speak up, and believe it or not, you will get in big, big trouble. You might even get your children taken away from you and put into a home where abuse doesn’t exist. All I want to say is, your children are people too. They have feelings and a heart, and abusing them is not going to help solve any problem, it’s only creating another one.
